Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground bison
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • 4 slices cheese (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • Sliced red onion

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground bison into four equal portions and shape them into patties slightly larger than the burger buns. Press a shallow divot in the center of each patty.
  2. Season both sides of the patties with salt and ground black pepper, then set aside.
  3. Heat a cast iron skillet or grill over medium heat and place the patties on it. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. If using cheese, add a slice on top during the last two minutes of cooking.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing cooked patties on buns and topping with lettuce, tomato, and onion.
