Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 1-pound loaf pan.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat together the egg, milk, and vegetable oil until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving about ¼ cup for topping later.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan until filled about two-thirds full and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
- Bake in the center of the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing.
