  • 3 large eggs
  • 120g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large oranges (zest and juice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 100ml whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water (optional)
  • 150g powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold this into the wet ingredients.
  6. Mix in milk and orange blossom water until smooth.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth and drizzle over the cooled cake.
