Ingredients

  • 1½ cups granulated white sugar
  • 1½ cups water
  • 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • ½ cup tawny port wine or white grape juice
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions

  2. Blend cubed watermelon in a food processor until smooth. Strain through a fine wire-mesh strainer.
  3. Combine cooled syrup, watermelon juice, tawny port or grape juice, and lemon juice in a container. Chill for at least 4 hours.
  4. Pour mixture into an electric ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer instructions until soft-serve texture is achieved.
