- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cut into cubes)
- 4–5 tablespoons cold water
- 1 cup strawberry preserves
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- Rainbow sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling by mixing sliced strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Divide and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
- Spoon strawberry filling onto half of each rectangle, top with another rectangle, and seal edges.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
