- 4–5 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for buttercream)
- 1 pinch salt (for buttercream)
- 1 cup strawberry puree (for buttercream)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Puree strawberries in a blender until smooth; set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream and vanilla.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Fold in strawberry puree evenly into the batter.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool before frosting with strawberry buttercream.
