Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium cauliflower (cut into florets)
  • 1/3 cup rice flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1.5 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice apple vinegar
  • 12 tbsp Sriracha sauce
  • 23 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • Fresh ginger (minced)
  • Fresh garlic (minced)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Spring onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together rice flour, cornstarch, garlic powder (if using), and enough water to create a smooth batter.
  3. Coat the cauliflower florets in the batter, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and drizzle with oil.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by combining sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, Sriracha, minced ginger, and garlic in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Thicken the sauce by mixing cornstarch with water and adding it gradually while stirring until it reaches your desired consistency.
  7. Once baked, toss the cauliflower in the sticky sauce until well coated.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced spring onions.
