Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, buttermilk, hot coffee, canola oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients using a spatula until just mixed.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool before transferring them to a cooling rack.
