  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (flank steak or sirloin) or chicken/tofu
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water or broth
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup green onions (cut into 2-inch pieces)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and slice the beef thinly if not pre-sliced. Mince garlic and grate ginger.
  2. In a bowl, toss sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. In another bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, and water/broth until sugar dissolves.
  4. Heat a wok over medium-high heat and add oil until shimmering.
  5. Stir-fry the coated beef for about 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove from wok.
  6. In the same wok, stir-fry minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add green onions and cook for another minute.
  7. Return the beef to the wok along with prepared sauce; toss until well-coated and heated through.
