- 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- One 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 10 ounces soft caramels (unwrapped)
- 1 teaspoon flaked sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil and coat it with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, cream together room temperature salted butter with light brown and granulated sugar until fluffy using an electric mixer.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually mix in baking soda, salt, and flour until just combined. Fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Press three-quarters of the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt sweetened condensed milk with unwrapped soft caramels until smooth.
- Pour three-quarters of the melted caramel over the dough base and drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the center is set. Immediately sprinkle flaked sea salt on top while warm.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
