Instructions

  1. Beat room temperature butter with maple sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in powdered sugar, followed by maple syrup and extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt; combine with wet ingredients until dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick; cut into leaf shapes.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden; cool on racks.
  7. For the filling, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
