  • 1 ½ cups pure maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ½ Tablespoons butter (cold and cut into small pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°F (82°C) to keep the dumplings warm.
  2. In a large pot, bring water, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to a boil.
  3. In a food processor, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Pulse until mixed.
  4. Add cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and mix in buttermilk until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough into boiling sauce, cover, and simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
