Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold)
- 1/4 cup whole milk (warm)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually mix in warm milk until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–10 minutes until smooth.
- Flatten cold butter between parchment sheets into a rectangle and chill.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, place the chilled butter on one half, fold over to encase it, and roll out again. Fold into thirds and repeat this lamination process two more times.
- Cut triangles from the laminated dough and roll each triangle from base to tip to shape your croissants.
- Place them on lined baking trays to proof until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
