Description

Honey Glazed Carrots and Green Beans is a vibrant and flavorful side dish that effortlessly combines the natural sweetness of fresh vegetables with a delightful glaze. This recipe is perfect for elevating any meal, whether it’s a family dinner or a holiday gathering. The harmonious blend of honey and soy sauce creates an irresistible sweet-savory flavor that will impress your guests while remaining easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh carrots
  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables by washing, peeling, and cutting the carrots into uniform pieces. Trim the ends of the green beans and cut them in half if necessary.
  2. Optional: Blanch the green beans in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes, then transfer them to an ice bath.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter or olive oil. Add the carrots and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Stir in the blanched (or unblanched) green beans along with honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for about 8-10 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. For a stickier glaze, uncover and cook on medium heat for an additional 2-3 minutes to reduce excess liquid.
  7. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving warm.
