- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups cold whole milk or almond milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened but cold
- 12 pieces chocolate batons or semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add cold milk until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 90 minutes.
- Place butter between parchment paper and roll into a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick; chill until firm.
- Roll out dough into a large rectangle; place butter in the center and fold the dough over it completely.
- Roll out again and perform letter folds three times, chilling for 30 minutes between folds.
- Cut triangles from the final dough and place chocolate at the base; roll towards the tip.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush with egg wash (or milk) and bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
