Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Clean and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert wooden sticks into each apple and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Stir constantly until melted.
  4. Gradually add sweetened condensed milk while whisking until smooth. Cook until the mixture thickens and reaches 245°F on a candy thermometer (about 15-25 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Allow cooling slightly.
  6. Dip each chilled apple into the warm caramel until fully coated, letting excess drip off before placing on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. If desired, sprinkle toppings immediately after coating while caramel is still warm.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set before serving.
