  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Potatoes (for fries)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, smoked paprika, and salt. Coat the chicken pieces and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in chili powder and marinated chicken; brown on all sides.
  4. Pour in tomato puree and bring to simmer. Gradually add heavy cream while stirring. Season with salt and pepper; let simmer for about 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Cut potatoes into desired fry shape, fry or bake until golden brown; season with salt.
  6. Serve the creamy butter chicken over hand-cut fries or alongside them on the plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
