  • 46 medium croissants (slightly stale preferred)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese (optional)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the croissants into chunks and layer half in a greased baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the croissant layer and add the remaining pieces on top.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, softened cream cheese (if using), sugar, vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the croissants and gently press down to soak them. Let rest for 15–30 minutes.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and set in the middle.
