Description

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and brown sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add kosher salt and flour until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces. Roll each piece into ropes and wrap around mozzarella sticks, sealing well.
  5. Boil water with baking soda and gently boil each pretzel for 30 seconds before placing on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.
  7. Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
