  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 bag Kraft caramels
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 16-ounce can chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix with eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 15 minutes or until slightly set.
  4. While baking, melt together Kraft caramels, butter, and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat until smooth.
  5. Once the first layer is baked, pour the caramel mixture over it and sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.
  6. Pour the remaining batter over the topping and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until set in the middle.
  7. Allow to cool completely before frosting with chocolate frosting. Cut into squares to serve.
