  • 15 cups mini marshmallows
  • 12 cups crispy rice cereal (divided)
  • 1½ teaspoons clear vanilla extract (divided)
  • Red & blue food coloring (8-9 red drops, 6 blue)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper; spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt ¼ cup butter and add 5 cups marshmallows. Stir until almost melted; reduce heat to low.
  3. Mix in ½ teaspoon vanilla and red food coloring until desired color is reached.
  4. Combine with 4 cups crispy rice cereal until well-coated.
  5. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and press down firmly.
  6. Repeat steps for the white layer using only white marshmallows; pour on top of the red layer.
  7. Repeat again for the blue layer using blue food coloring.
  8. Let cool completely at room temperature for about an hour before cutting into star shapes.
