- 3 green onions (chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tbsp ginger (minced)
- 4 cups chicken/beef/vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 12 oz frozen wontons
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Optional: rice vinegar, sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the homemade chili oil by combining red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar, salt, and optional cinnamon stick in a heat-safe bowl. Heat neutral oil in a small pan until hot, then pour over the chili mixture and stir. Set aside.
- In a large pot, melt coconut oil over medium heat. Add chopped white/light green parts of green onions and sauté with minced ginger and garlic until fragrant (about 2-3 minutes).
- Pour in the broth and bring to a bubble; reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add frozen wontons along with soy sauce and optional rice vinegar; simmer gently until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with dark green onion tops and drizzle with chili oil.
